Honorable Mention Poem in Search of an Author Jim Doss Want to find me? Ask the scarecrow dancing across knee-high cornfields. See those bubbles floating in green pond scum— consult the crayfish below fiddling away in its happiness. Strong-arm that mosquito drunk on last night’s blood as it zigzags across the windowpane. Interrogate your own shadow after it returns from wandering gardens of moonlight. But when the egg starts to sing before it hatches, when the spider abandons its sun and planets for the lyre, you must lie down in the cemetery grass for years to understand this silence I’ve drawn you here to hear.
